AI Takeover

Story by Mr. Monitorio

Yes, AI is taking over. Go home now!

What? You thought it's just a recent thing, because everyone can use scripting and art tools now?

You might be wrong there, buddy!

The fascination for anything artificial is as old as humanity itself. Maybe not that old, but still very old. Even in religion we have certain artificial human stuff, like women getting made out of ribs, using pottery to create golems, homunculi, automatons and the list goes on. Men were always eager to play God and forge life the way they want.

And now we're here, afraid of what we've made could replace us in the future, probably today even! We didn't have any problem as long as we stayed in control though. Why couldn't it be just fictional...

What's a little funny is how different groups respond to each "new" concept of AI use.

Remember text-to-speech? Back in the days nobody was scared of Microsoft Sam, but as soon as 15.ai showed up voice actors lost their shit! Justified, if you ask me.

Do you also remember who hyped it up? Literally everyone else.

Artists for example could make funny voice overs for videos and didn't have to ask or pay another person to do a half decent imitation of the character they wanted.

Then deep fakes of people's faces became popular and actors got afraid to be replaced or never be replaced after they died, I'm not sure which is worse to be honest.

Shortly after AI was able to do art and not just stick figures or random shapes but complex character and environment concepts, highly detailed or abstract.

At last we have a chatbot that is able to get academic degrees, write entire books and code other programs.

In summary, humans got pretty useless in the last few years, didn't they? Sure, these AI tools aren't perfect and still have lots of errors, but the constant data we keep feeding them makes them better and better.

So that's it? Yes!

We can't stop the evolution of technology, even if we try by using other programs that distort our original work so it can't be used for AI purposes. In the end, it will adapt.

Then why don't we try to adapt?

I'm not saying you shouldn't learn the basics and go straight to the command prompt of any tool and sell the result as your own creation. Instead use these tools in your workflow.

Maybe you're struggling with an idea, a concept, a technique or something that stops you from moving forward.

Usually you'd ask another person for help and that's still the best option. But for a quick and dirty solution, you could also use AI. Just don't make that mistake and copy-paste your homework without knowing what it is.

Analyze every result! What works, what doesn't? How can you achieve the same result?

How can you make the result even better?!

The fear of getting replaced just means you're not able to bring anything new to the table. Which would be a bad thing for any creative person out there. So don't get upset and embrace the takeover and make your best out of it!

Side note:

We actually got some good stuff from "AI", think of all the sentient robots and programs that give us so much joy! We will definitely ask some of our new overlords what they think about the newest change...
